Hand embroidered turban
This piece references the question, “where are you from?” and it’s reiteration of, “no, where are you from from?” The words are hand ‘FROM FROM’ are stitched onto the fabric of an unraveled turban and installed with the text facing sideways. The embroidery on this cultural object is done by hand, bringing forward ideas of labour, craft, and invisibility.
